An Overview of MP3 Players

With today’s advancement in technology, there has been a further clamor for creating the best gadget in the market. From the Walkman and cassette tapes to VCD players and CDs that can store eight to twelve songs to MP3 players and CDs that can store hundreds of songs in MP3 format, really, our technology has gone a long way.

What is an MP3 Format?

During the late 1990s, the MP3 format was created. It is a method of reducing the size of audio files into smaller bytes, thus, allowing more songs to be stored in a CD that can support this kind of format. The usual song will take about 40 MB to be stored in a single CD, but by using the MP3 format, the song is compressed to only about 4 MB. When it comes to the quality of the song, the quality is somewhat lessened but not that much.

What is an MP3 Player?

An MP3 player is a device created specifically for MP3 formatted songs, although there are some MP3 players that can play other formats as well. This can store hundreds to even thousands of songs and is so lightweight and portable that you can bring the MP3 player to just about any place, unlike your CD player which is a bit bulkier. Some players have the added benefit of clock and calendar functions as well as photo and video viewing.

With an MP3 player, you can customize your playlist according to the genre of the music, artist or band, album, etc. You also have the option of either using your headphones or speakers when playing your songs. They can run on its batteries alone and this you can recharge, or plugged into an electrical outlet, or be used in your car when you are traveling.

How to Choose Your MP3 Player

Knowing the reason why you want to purchase an MP3 player is very important as this can save you a lot of money. It is important that you choose your MP3 player based on how you will use it, the number of songs that you want downloaded in it, and the cost of purchasing your MP3 player.

All these should be taken into consideration as there is a type of MP3 for each purpose. For example, if you only want to use it occasionally such as when exercising, then the lightweight type is for you. If you are going to use it most of the time, then get one that can store more songs.

The Great iPod

Another new invention when it comes to gadgets is the iPod, a great creation by Apple Computer. This little gadget is an MP3 player that can actually store about 15 thousand to 20 thousand songs, and if your iPod has this feature can store photos of up to 25 thousand pictures. Now, your iPod can even store videos and have games installed in it and is compatible with your computers for easy downloading and uploading of files.

The iPod Generation

The iPod has really come a long way, from the simple iPod with scroll wheel to screens with multi-touch function and from as low as 512 MB to as high as 160 BG. Because of the versatility of the iPod, it has become a very popular gadget that is a must-have among the masses.

It’s a good travel companion as well as workout companion, and it’s not rare to see many people carrying this lightweight gadget around. But Apple Company did not stop with one or two successful iPod models. The company continued to improve their models such that they are now dominating the market when it comes to MP3 players.

iPod Accessories

Because of the iPod’s popularity, the company began making accessories for the gadget. Among them are the car charger and power adapter so you can easily charge them anywhere you are. Also, you have radio transmitters for those who want to broadcast their songs over the radio.

When it comes to speakers, there are three types to choose from. You can either choose the portable speakers (perfect for picnics), desktop speakers (perfect for your room or office), and the wireless speakers. There are also car accessories for your iPod such as the in-car iPod holder. Plus, you always have many designs for your iPod cases. There are a lot more accessories for your iPod that you can buy in malls or online.

Taking Care of Your iPod

Since your iPod is a very lightweight gadget, you have to take care of it so as to avoid unnecessary expenses. Be careful not to drop it as it might damage the screen. You also have to make sure that you do not expose it to unnecessary stresses like extreme weather conditions like snow as it can easily trap moisture, damaging your iPod. Likewise, it should not also be exposed to extreme heat or direct sunlight. If you have an iPod case, use it so as to avoid scratches.

Nano iPod Review

The Apple Company has given consumers a lot of iPod models to choose from, among them is the Nano iPod. This model is the combination of both the iPod Shuffle as well as the original iPod.

Features of iPod Nano

What makes this model very good is that it can easily fit into the palm of your hands, allowing a firmer grip on the gadget. It is also thin but shorter than the first models, making it more durable. Whereas the first model can easily break in two if you accidentally sat on it, this model does not because of its shorter length.

The ipod nano is available also at 2 gigabytes, 4 gigabytes, and 8 gigabytes, allowing storage of about 500 up to about 2,000 songs, and it can accommodate up to about 25 thousand photos.

When it comes to video features, one setback though is that when you are playing a wide video, you can either view it with black bars below and above the movie so as to accommodate the full picture or play it at full screen in which case the sides of the video are reduced. But in any case, the video feature of the iPod Nano is still better than its predecessors.

User Friendly iPod Nano

While others have complained about how they cannot control the songs played in their iPod Shuffle (songs are played randomly), with the iPod Nano, it is totally controllable. Plus, its sleek design makes it versatile that you can carry it just about anywhere you want. It is even perfect when you are at the gym and working out.

Final Note

Really, when it comes to choosing your iPod model, the iPod Nano is a great idea. Although nicknamed the “fatty” iPod after seeing its slimmer predecessors, it has proven to consumers that it is worthy to be called a favorite iPod model. Although it looks a bit “fatter” than the other models, it still has the same functions that the others have, albeit better and more user friendly. Plus, it can easily be slipped into your pocket, and its stouter look makes it more durable as it does not easily break into two unlike the other slimmer versions where you have to be extra careful.

What takes away some of its beauty though is that the ipod nano’s edges are somewhat hard, but still, to each his own, right?
